Jeanette Limas "Alma Rosa" Spring 25 Collection | Main Line Today
It was a real privilege to have the opportunity to photograph the incredibly talented designer Jeanette Limas for her recent cover story in Main Line Today. As a Delco native who made waves as a finalist on Making the Cut, Jeanette is a true inspiration, and I was thrilled to capture her as she prepares to launch her seventh collection, "Alma Rosa," right here in Philadelphia this month.
Seeing Jeanette’s journey unfold, from winning the Young Designer of the Year award in the Dominican Republic to earning a scholarship at New York’s Parsons School of Design, and then launching her namesake brand in 2015, has been fascinating. This latest piece in Main Line Today, written by Gina Lizzo, offered a fantastic insight into her design process and the heartfelt inspiration behind her upcoming Spring-Summer 2025 collection.
Jeanette describes "Alma Rosa" as her "most personal and emotionally resonant work" to date. It's a "poetic narrative—with each piece draped in memories and reconstructed from stories suspended in time—that explores new possibilities of beauty and construction to empower the wearer”. Hearing her articulate this vision, inviting us "to not just wear fashion, but to experience it, to feel a connection to something deeper, and to step into each day with the strength and grace that my pieces are designed to inspire", really resonated with me as a visual storyteller.
What truly defines Jeanette’s style, and what I aimed to capture in my photographs, is her mastery of draping. "Draping is at the heart of my design process. It’s what my brand is known for," she explained. She approaches each design with "a balance of structure and fluidity, using drapery to create designs that not only tell a story but also evoke a sense of movement and emotion". Her background in both drapery and pattern making allows her to create garments that are not only visually striking but also deeply meaningful, seeing fashion as "an art form that conveys emotions, memories and dreams through the flow and form of the fabric".
Her experience on Making the Cut was clearly a pivotal moment in her career. Being a top finalist and winning two assignments exposed her to a global audience and led to her capsule collections being featured on Amazon Fashion. The show undoubtedly gave her "the confidence and platform to take my brand to the next level"
I always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate on projects that highlight the intersection of art and emotion. Jeanette Limas’s work is a perfect example of this, and it was an honor to contribute to the visual narrative of her Main Line Today cover story.
